Premier Twin 8

I publish schematics of amps based on data that I have in my database. I have drawn the schematics based on the data that I have collected.

Premier Twin 8 1959 1960 6V6GT with 6X4 Rectifier

Premier Twin 8 1961 7591A with 5Y5GT rectifier

Premier Twin 8 1964 7591A with solid state rectifier

Premier Twin 8 1964 with 5Y3GT rectifier

Premier Twin 8 1965 6L6GT Solid State Rectifier

Dimensions of the cabinet are in the 8R documentation:

My version of the Premier Twin 8 video series that you see on my YouTube channel:

Jim's 7591 with 5Y3 rectifier

This version has remedied several issues that make you more successful in building it for the first time. I have added grid stoppers and measurements (voltage and current) throughout the schematic. I have also elevated the ground to the 7591A cathode to reduce hum. Single-end amps are prone to hum.

The last model was in 1966. The characteristics that the Premier Twin 8 is noted for are missing in the 1966 model.

I worked with Matt at MusicalPowerSupplies to get the construction of the original Premier Twin 8 output transformer correct. This transformer is not the one that is installed in the 1958 or the 1959 which had the split chassis design and a large transformer. This is for the output transformer found in all the later models.

The output transformer can be ordered from: matt@musicalpowersupplies.com

The part number is: OT10SE-2K8-VC87
